Major General Bobby L. Christine

Major General Bobby L. Christine serves as The Judge Advocate General, United States Army. He is a graduate of Samford University, Cumberland School of Law, the University of Georgia, and Georgia Military College. He holds a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, and is a National Security Fellow of the Maxwell School at Syracuse University as well as a graduate of Harvard University’s Homeland Security Executive Seminar. Preceding his current duties, MG Christine served as Special Assistant to the General Counsel – NGB, proceeded by service as State Judge Advocate (SJA) – Georgia National Guard. Other military assignments have included: Command Judge Advocate – 78th Homeland Response Force; SJA – 78th Troop Command; Judge Advocate – 265th Engineer Group; Trial Counsel – 265th Engineer Group (Iraq); Deputy SJA – Joint Force Headquarters, Georgia National Guard; Operations/Executive Officer, HSC, 878th Engineer Battalion (EN BN); Maintenance Platoon Leader, HSC, 878th EN BN; Platoon Leader, HSC, 878th EN BN. MG Christine served as a Trial Counsel in Iraq, prosecuting amongst the war’s first courts-martial, and performing duty as a Combat Engineer. He has served on contact teams in the Republic of Georgia, and performed duty with U.S. Army Africa. Among Bobby’s military awards are the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and Parachutist Badge. He was previously selected Army Career Judge Advocate of the Year (National Guard). In civilian life Bobby was the elected District Attorney of Georgia’s Columbia Judicial Circuit. After law school Bobby worked in the District Attorney’s Office in Augusta, Georgia. He is one of only a few prosecutors in modern Georgia to win a conviction for murder where the body of the victim has never been located. He sat as Judge of Magistrate Court for Columbia County from 2005 to 2017, serving as Chief Magistrate from 2009-2013. During this period Bobby maintained a private practice of law concentrating in litigation. From 2017 to 2021 Bobby served as United States Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. As chief federal law enforcement officer for the Southern District -43 counties in East and South Georgia- he was responsible for leading an office at the forefront of criminal law enforcement, including terrorist financing, espionage, white collar and cybercrime, firearms, narcotics trafficking, public corruption, human trafficking, immigration offenses and civil rights. The office litigated also complex civil cases, including large affirmative civil frauds in health care and defense procurement, and appeared regularly before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2021 Bobby became the only United States Attorney to lead two federal districts simultaneously, when appointed the additional duty of Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.
Bobby’s military education includes also Command and General Staff College (ILE);  Judge Advocate Officer Advanced Course; Judge Advocate Officer Basic Course; Engineer Officer Basic Course; Maintenance Officers Course. He has attended more than
a dozen other courses and schools, covering topics including Cyber Operations, Cyber and Space Law, the Law of Armed Conflict, Military Justice, Contracting, and Construction. MG Christine and his wife Sheri, an elementary school teacher, have two daughters and one son.
